Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) Made Simple for Installation Companies

Join South Australian installers already earning on every eligible job through REPS.

The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a South Australian Government initiative that provides incentives for energy-efficient upgrades and demand management activities installed in SA homes and businesses. As a REPS Activity Provider partner, Electric Future makes it simple for installers to unlock these incentives across air conditioning, heat pumps, hot water, insulation, batteries, VPP connections, and more.

Lower Customer Costs

By applying VEU incentives upfront, you can offer customers significant discounts on their installations—making you more competitive and closing more jobs faster.

Extra Income Per Job

Earn rebate income on top of your standard installation fees. Rebates range from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the upgrade type and size.

Zero Paperwork Hassle

Electric Future handles 100% of the certificate creation, compliance validation, regulatory submissions, and payment processing. You just install and submit basic details through our app.

What is the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS)?

The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a South Australian Government initiative designed to help households and businesses reduce their energy costs while delivering smarter, more affordable, and more reliable energy outcomes for all South Australians.

The scheme is now in its second five-year phase (REPS2), running from 2026 to 2030, following the successful initial period from 2021 to 2025 and the earlier Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) that ran from 2009 to 2020.

Here’s how it works: energy retailers in South Australia are set annual energy productivity targets by the Minister for Energy and Mining, administered by the Essential Services Commission of South Australia (ESCOSA). To meet these targets, retailers contract with Activity Providers—like Electric Future—to deliver eligible energy productivity activities to homes and businesses.

When you install eligible products or connect customers to approved programs, productivity credits (measured in gigajoules) are generated for the retailer, enabling incentives to flow to your customers and income to flow to you.

Eligible Activities We Support Through the
REPS Program

We help South Australian installation businesses unlock REPS incentives across a comprehensive range of energy productivity activities. Our easy-to-use calculator gives installers clarity upfront on incentive values, so you can quote with confidence and set clear expectations with customers. The REPS currently offers over 25 eligible activities—and Electric Future supports the full range relevant to installation trades.

Reverse-Cycle Air Conditioning Systems

Earn substantial REPS incentives on reverse-cycle air conditioning installations across residential and small business settings.

Hot Water Systems

Hot water upgrades deliver excellent REPS incentives and help your customers dramatically reduce water heating costs—around 23% of a typical home’s energy use goes to heating water.

Battery Storage & Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Connections

One of the most valuable REPS activities—connecting a new or existing battery to an approved Virtual Power Plant. VPP participation is a standout feature of the SA scheme compared to other states.

Ceiling Insulation

Insulation remains one of the most effective energy efficiency measures and a high-demand REPS activity.

Efficient Appliances

REPS supports the purchase of high-efficiency household appliances, creating opportunities for appliance retailers and installers alike.

Building Sealing & Secondary Glazing

Residential and small energy consuming customers only. Must meet specification requirements for thermal performance.
